I won a free bag of this at a koi show. Really seems like a very nice food. The ingredients seem great, no fillers or by products. The fish produced very little waste and they ate it quickly.

I noticed the amount of waste and gunk in the filter double the day I started using this stuff. The fish ate it just fine but its simply not very digestible and they produce a ton more poo because of it.

Got this at my local koi shop when they were out of their usual brand. The koi did very well on this food and the koi shop said they got so many compliments on it that they were going to keep it around permanently so I guess I wasn't the only one that liked it. The price was very reasonable too.

I love the quick release for this. When you need to clean it or change the bulb you can just snap it off without touching the plumbing. The UV does a great job, flow rates seem higher then other UVs and the cost for this is less.

I wouldn't call this a "complete system" for anything other then a very small pond with maybe a couple goldfish. But as an add on filter it's a nice little upgrade and an easy way to add a nice fountain feature. It will clog on you as most all under water filters will so you have to pull it up and clean it often.

This is a nice filter. It really back washes very well and I am always surprised by the amount of brown gunk that comes out when i clean it. My water was noticeably cleaner the day i hooked it up, it really catches every little bit. It seems well made and it was easy to hook up. It has a good quality valve as well that turns easy and seems like it will last.

I think the stuff coats the gills of the koi. i added it to my QT tank and within a hour they were all acting like they needed more air. I added an air pump and air store and they still seems to have trouble breathing. I put them back into the regular pond and within a couple hours they seemed fine. I can't say for sure it was this stuff that made them have issues, maybe it was something else, maybe I added too much, i don;t know, but I can't think of anything else it could be.

on a well cycled pond it can be great at low doses to clean the pond water. But this product should not be listed under parasite treatments because its very hard to use this stuff to kill parasites. You have to use it at high levels that will kill your filter and is dangerous for the koi in order to kill parasites. There are much safer parasite treatments out there. But to "clean" up the water with a low dose, its very safe and easy to use. I would never recommend a high dose of PP to anybody other then a professional. 3 stars only because its listed under parasite treatments and it shouldn't be used for that.

I transport my koi to my local koi show once a year, every year. I was told about this product by a club member. I noticed after transport, at the show and when back at home they just did so much better with less stress. I have used it in QT for stressed and sick koi as well. Really calms them down and keeps them safe.

Review:
This product is very easy to use because you don't have to sedate the koi. It can be applied with one hand while the other hand holds the koi. This is easiest when the koi is in a bowl. The downside is the product washes off so its best to hold the would out of the water for a few moments which can be hard. if the koi fights you then you may need to sedate, but I have gotten good enough with it that I can keep the koi calm. It just takes practice. After 4-5 treatments the wounds start to show great improvement.

This got my pond up and running when i re did my filtration and started with a new system. I added this and within about 2 weeks ammonia was gone and in 4 weeks I had no nitrites. That's about 1/2 the amount of time it took when I first built the pond, so I would say this product works very well.

My goldfish pond had a lot of plants and didn't have great filtration so the sludge would build up. This was really easy to use, just add the packet and for get about it. Sure seemed to keep the sludge under control. Before using this I had to drain and clean several times a year, now i only do it once every other year...worth every penny for that alone.

excellent dechlorinator. Best on the market and I have been using it for the past 5 years. I haven't seen anything out there that is cheaper for the gallons it treats or one that does as good of a job. I don't premix in a bucket or anything, I just add it to the pond first, then add directly from the hose.

It has a direction outlet which makes it really easy to install, but found that if left in one position for too long it won't move easily anymore and will leak if you force it into a new position. This was after a year though when we had to change the bulb. Until we did that it worked great. Might not have that problem if you keep it out of full sun, but not sure.

We had this installed by our local pond builder. It was well made, but the basket was too small the the opening wasn;t big enough to handle out flow rate. Probably a fine skimmer for a smaller pond but it just wasn't enough for use so we had to remove it ourselves and install a different one. Never did business with that pond installer again.

I think they call this the Big Bahama. Great waterfall filter. well made and strong material. It won;t bend of flex when full. There is plenty of extra space for adding your own bag of filter material. I also like that this one one of the less expensive waterfall filter out there by more then $100 for other similar units. Usually the filters that are so much cheaper and low quality, I was happy to find that was not he case with this one.

I am very happy with my biosteps filter. i installed it behind my waterfall. There is a limit to the flow rate though and if you go through fast it will overflow a little bit as the media starts to get dirty. So I had to rig a bypass so only some of my water goes through it and that worked really well.

I usually have this handy most of the year. You never know when a parasite will show itself and sometimes you don't have time to order some online so i keep it handy. DO NOT USE WITH SALT...very deadly and I learned this the hard way. I forgot I added salt months before and it was still there and the fish had a really hard time. But you can't blame the product for my mistake. It says right on the bottle not to use with salt.

I used to live in the North East before I moved down to Florida. I had a 3000 gallon pond up there that was 5 ft deep. It would freeze over every year and I had to bring the koi in. But I learned that if I kept a hole in the ice I could leave them out. So I got this at my local pet store and it worked perfectly all winter long. Kept a nice big hole and the koi did well outdoors below the ice.

Just set it somewhere you won't get hit yourself because it sends out a lot of water.
