Dolphin AV-50 Pond Air Pump
Product Rating:
Review: A solid little pump for the money. I have used two of these on 4 small QT tanks for over 3 years non stop. I have yet to replace the diaphragm on either of them. Not as quiet as the higher end pumps and they won't push air as deep. But if you are on a budget this is a good choice.

Review: A very solid, efficient, quiet pump. Been running in my pond for over 5 years now with no problems. I have it outside, completely exposed to the elements and still it's running like a champ. Highly recommend!! The only downfall is the pump doesn't come with unions like the W.Lim pumps. So make sure you use unions in case you ever need to remove the pump. I wanted to change the plumbing and I had to cut the PVC pipe to get the pump out.

Review: Pretty cool little unit. I had Egrets in my backyard and I put this thing in and they have not been back since. Does not work at all for raccoons, they love getting wet. But large birds like the Egret sure stay away. The negatives are if its not set up properly you get wet when you walk by...REALLY wet. And you have to have it hooked to a hose all the time, so you need to find a way to hide the hose stretched across your yard....I guess that is only a problem if your spigot is far from the pond. But if you have large birds coming after your koi, I recommend this item.

Review: another good ointment. It is a powder that forms a sticky gel over the wound. If used carefully it can work very well. But be careful, you don't want any of this in the gills. It can also be a bit messy when you have a flopping fish and wet hands, its easy to contaminate the tip and make a mess of the powder. You can avoid this if you sedate the fish before you apply it.

Review: This is an excellent ointment. I have used it many times with good success. Very effective on small ulcers, split fins, etc. I have even used this product on mouth rot. Many treatments cannot be used in the mouth, but this one can. It doesn't wash away very easily either, it is an oily gel that stay in place for awhile.
I like to use this product after a Tricide Neo dip for a great 1-2 punch on an ulcer.

Review: I find these clog very easily and need to be cleaned several times a week. OK for ponds with a very low fish load, but even then they require frequent cleaning. The real problem is if it clogs and you don't clean it then your pump will run dry and burn out.

Review: My favorite bacterial infection treatment. Heals ulcers quickly and is very easy to use. Do NOT allow any of the dip to get into the pond as it kills ALL bacteria, both good and bad. But as a dip it is very effective. Follow the directions closely, use only distilled water and never leave the koi in the dip for more then 5 min.

Argent Potassium Promangante
Product Rating:
Review: A good product for cleaning up the pond, but not something to be used lightly and not for the timid. You must give it the respect it deserves. It is a powerful oxidant that will knock back the bio filter and can damage the koi's gills if over used. Not for new ponds as it can destroy the fragile bacteria. I like to use it in very mild, low dose applications of less then 1 ppm. Great for a quick clean up of the water. It is very important that you know your exact gallons and use a gram scale to weight the PP. It also requires close monitoring during the treatment and keep dechlor on hand as it will reverse the treatment instantly.

E.A. Koi Nets

Review: My favorite net! If you have a big and/or deep pond a good net is a requirement. When I need to get the big koi from the big pond I always turn to my EA 32" to do the job. Glides through the water easily and the fish never get hurt. I did find the netting will tear easily if you drag it on the bottom too often, but you can buy replacement netting if that happens.

Review: I really like this media. Far better then any sponge media. Easy to cut into any shape and lasts for years and years. I found it is best when you use all 4 densities in order to get both mechanical and biological filtration. It catches a lot of muck, its easy to clean, never clogs and gives you tons of surface area for bacteria.

Well worth the money when compared to lower quality foods that are less digestible and produce more waste. More waste means the koi get less nutrition and more muck in the filters.
