I am using this is a trickle tower. Water is pumped up and showered over it on its way back tot he pond. Similar to a Bakki shower. It works great in this environment, I can't imagine a better media in a shower set up.

This media is amazing. Light weight, so its easy to move, even when wet and it gives tons and tons of surface area. I would not use it as a mechanical filter though, once clogged with sludge it will be very hard to get clean.
