Next generation HY-Drive design combines the benefits of magnetic- and direct-drive technologies to deliver an extremely quiet, energy efficient, low maintenance pumping source.

Three models, delivering up to 4800 GPH, HY-Drive pumps go easy on the wattage, yet are powerful enough to create a dynamic, attractive waterfall, drive a medium- to large-size skimmer, or service large commercial and residential aquariums.

The heavy-duty polypropylene enclosure has a built-in carry handle and an effective molded-in debris screen. HY-Drive pumps can be positioned vertically or horizontally and are equally at home underwater as a submersible pump or as an inline, external pumping source for a variety of aquatic and aquarium installations.

I had a PM3600 that ran and ran and ran until the impeller was junk and the pump was beyond repair. I replaced it with the pricy hydrive pump and this thing is absolute junk from the get go. It pumps like crazy when the pump is first in the pond, but the impeller slowly starts to plug with small debris and it becomes useless after a short while. I am in the pond once a week to clean it out. This is absolutely unacceptable. Also, Danner is not helpful at all and states that pumps in ponds are not meant to handle debris. do they think that these are used in aquariums? All ponds outside are subject to junk falling in the pond.

My neighbor asked me to help him get a pump and i picked this one up for him. I hooked it up and he is very happy with it. Its been running for a year and so far no problems. Pondmaster has always made great equipment so you really can't go wrong with anything they make.

Installed a couple of these in skimmers. They work very well for the money, but the flow rate wasn't what expected after head. But I have always liked Pondmaster for their reliability and efficiency and this pump definitely fits that bill.
