Each bioPro features a unique Bio Cell media; specifically designed for biofiltration. This neutrally buoyant, "high impact", polystyrene media provides a large amount of surface area that is required for healthy colonies of aerobic nitrifying bacteria. The best thing about these filters is the media. They don't use a sinking media, its neutrally buoyant which means it will sink to the bottom during normal operation because the water flows down and then when you backwash the water flows up so the media rises up and tumbles very easily with no clumping of the media. Its also a very solidly built filter and will last outdoors for many years.

If you can find these on sale then they are great filters. They tend to be expensive most of the time, but they are well made and backwash very easily. But for a bit less there are similar filters on the market. Shop around and if you see them on sale or marked down, grab it up...you won't be sorry.
