I have the Zapp 40 uv. Before I installed this unit on my pond, my water was turning green. It installed very easily after my Ultima II 20,000 bead filter. It has a very small footprint, takes up hardly any space. The next morning after installation I was stunned by the clarity of my water. Oh and the customer support is A1! The bracket on my unit was bent on delivery. I called GC Tek spoke to a nice lady and had the replacement bracket two days later.Replacing the bulb is very simple, remove a couple of screws, unplug the 4 prong connector, slide out the lamp and reverse these steps and you are finished!! I chose this product because when it came time to replace the bulb, I only wanted to have to purchase ONE bulb. Other competitive units require you to purchse more than one.

I have two Ultima II bead filters. One 20,000 and one 10,000. I have never had to open them because of "clumping".
Maybe because both are fed by 3/4 hp. pumps. To make my job easier to backwash, I purchased a remote for each pump. When I want to switch from filter to backwash I just click the remote off, which cuts power to the pump. When I switch to backwash i click the remote on. Sure beats plugging in and out the electrical cord to both pumps. Following the manufacturers directions of backwashing, and rinsing at least three times my pond stays very clear. I can't see a need to purchase a blower for these filters. I can hear the beads churning inside when I do my cleaning.Furthermore, I cannot say enough about the support this manufacturer provides. Customer service is top notch in my book!

Review:
I purchased the options Range 2000 vortex and filter with bases for my pond. I found that you have to drill a hole in the base for the drain outlet. Secondly, I came across a couple of other users of this system and they had an internal connector that directs the water coming from the vortex downward so that the water will rise and exit through one of the four avaible outlets(nice). I don't understand why my setup did not come with that piece.Flushing these is very easy. I just open the valterra valve for twenty seconds (or Less)gravity takes over, and vortex and filter clean! I like this system so much that I purchased the 3500 options range for when I convert my swimming pool over to a pond I will be ready! It is fascinating to see the vortex concept work. As water enters the cylinder it begins to spin. Heavy debris falls to the bottom of the vortex.
