works pretty well. It is powerful enough to get stuff off the bottom of my 4 foot pond. But I don't like how quickly it shuts off to drain. It takes about 15 seconds then the vac is full of water and it shuts off and starts to drain. Then you have to stand then for what seems like over a minute (but probably closer to 45 seconds)and then it comes back on and you can vacuum for another 15 seconds. But after awhile you get into a rhythm and it doesn't bother you. It would be nice if it drained faster and you didn't have to wait so long. The Oase vac has a dual chamber so it never shuts off, one fills while the other drains, but it also costs twice as much as this one which is why I got the matala.

Very happy with this pond vacuum. It shuts off and auto drains which is nice. Good power and has been very reliable over the past two years.

Do not like this at all. Thought it was the best when I saw it and first purchased it. Drain hose constantly falls off.If its not at the right level, it won't empty. Now it seems when it does have suction, body is being sucked inward. I believe it is now leaking at the base. Cord holder and on/off button is falling apart. Only owned it a little over a year, but threw the box out after it got wet, so I am stuck with it. When it work, it seems great, but it just isn't holding up at all. I need a vacuum, but I can't stand using this.

Review:
Very good pond vac. Works a lot like a shop vac, except it will automatically drain through a hose when its full. I used a wet/dry shop vac for one season and every 30 seconds you have to stop and dump it out. Having that happen on its own is great. Good strong suction even several feet deep. One negative is the drain hose will pull out if you drag the vac while its full of water. The drain hose doesn't lock in so when it's full of water and you pull the vac, out pops the hose. Easy to avoid, just don't move the vac until after it has drained.

One other thing, it can lose suction during the drain process, so it runs great for about a minute, then its at like 1/4 power for 10 seconds while it drains.
