Alpha ONE

Overall Rating:

The AlphaONE system employs a mixed media design. The media comes in two shapes mixed together and as the media nests together in its pack, tremendous amounts of solids can be trapped without going anaerobic. The solids are easily dispersed when the media agitator is engaged to break up the pack and release the solids out to backwash.

Each shape has specially designed ridges around the outside to promote beneficial bacterial growth, but not so long as to cause the media to interlock. Interlocking media, used on some filters, does not come apart when agitated. The shorter, more optimal ridge feature was carefully designed and tested to ensure that the filter would function perfectly in the long run.

The AlphaONE internals are designed slightly differently than the AquaBead filters. This new design provides maximum flow with the least maintenance and the lowest possible head loss of any filter of its type. With the internals using larger slotted openings on the AlphaONE, there is no need for a sludge drain.

Review:
I bought a alpha-one filter only after a lot of reading about bead filters. After using all the store brands, and never having super clear water,( And thats the reason your reading this )...Starting with putting the filter together. It took ten minites it is super easy. Its built strong, looks awesome,And within a week the water cleared up , and stayed that way.It gets back washed once a week, like you do on a swimming pool. And your hands never even get wet,Gary Cryer of Gctek.com builts them very well, For once i got something that worked better than i had hoped. The Advantage filter and the challenger were both looked into. But the bead that the alpha-one uses helped me decide. The water goes thru it and around it, giving way more surface area.If i can help you in anyway e-mail me at koiponder3@aol.com
