I had good luck with this barley and it made less of a mess as the regular straw looking barley. It took weeks and weeks but it finally got rid of the green.

It works ok...I guess. Hard to say if it was the reason my pond cleared or if it would have cleared on its own. Had it in the pond for about a month and the water did eventually clear.

In my experience, not was good as the real stuff, but works ok. I bought some since the pond store was out of barley straw. It works about 70% effective as barley straw, I think. I have SOME algae, but definitely not as much as if I didn't use it at all.
