Hikari Excel is a scientifically developed, colour enhancing diet. An easily digestible food produced from a mixture of highly nutritious wheat-germ and pure cultured spirulina. After a month of daily feeding it can produce ideal coloration of your koi.

Hikari Excel, simply the best!

Feeding Suggestions: Feed up to four times daily based on your water temperature and koi activity level. Warmer temperatures translate to more activity and the need for more food. Feed no more than you fish will consume within three to five minutes. Always remove all remaining food after the feeding period to avoid over-feeding and the water quality problems associated with this action

A bit of a step up from the Hikari economy food. Also a bit higher in price. But its less then most premium brand foods and available at most pet stores, so it is a popular choice. However it is still a far cry from the Sakai Hikari food as well as other premium foods. And for the money there are better foods on the market, especially if you are paying the high petsmart prices.

I get this at my local pet store whenever I run out and need something quick. It seems like a very good food and the koi really like it, but it is really expensive per pound. Maybe its cheaper online, but local retail stores charge an arm and a leg for it. 1 pound was like 18 dollars. I could feed them fresh shrimp for less then that!

Out of all the hikari type of foods, excel is the best out there. Good growth, clean colors and less koi poop which will help maintain filters. Hard to fins larger size bags. I was only able to find the 17 oz bags. Good for smaller koi that range from 4-5 inches long as it lasts a bit longer
