Very solid filter. I have had it on my pond for over 4 years now and it has been flawless. I haven't needed to open it up even once because the blower and backwash do such a good job. The valve is very solid and I expect this filter to last 20 more years.

I have the smallest model .60 for my 1000 gallon pond. I saved 300 be putting my own backwash blower in rather then getting it with a blower. Its been a great filter. I do recommend adding a blower though because it doesn't backwash all that well with out it. But they charge $300 and all you need is a $5 check valve and a $50 spa blower.

I purchased the 4.4 in the summer of 2007 for an 8000-gallon pond. I plumbed it directly from a W. Lim bottom drain. I used the Sequence 6600 to run it. The air agitator kit was warped after a week. I called the owner, who simply stated that it's a "normal occurrence" due to the heat here in Texas. Anyway, it worked well initially, but clogged frequently the following summer. I made lots of phone calls to the company, and the owner tried to help troubleshoot the problem. To make the long story short, it continued to clog, so I decided to buy the "Big Daddy" filter. That completely solved the problem. My impression is that this product is a good product, but you'd better have a settlement chamber if you plumb it from a bottom drain. Otherwise, the heavy sludge will really be too much for it to handle. I've switched it to filter my skimmer, and it's worked fine. I'd probably go with the Aquabead, since the cost is similar. A friend of mine has the Medusa, and it's great.
